Run an OPL Without Fixed Rosters
Updated
Before you begin
This is operating guidance for organizers. MYOPL does not currently control a physical paddle rack, waitlist, court assignment, or next-player rotation.
Choose and explain the local process before play begins.
At the venue
- Choose the queue or rotation system that fits the venue and sport.
- Explain where players wait and how the next group receives a court.
- State any local limits, safety rules, and what happens when attendance exceeds available courts.
- Tell players which ordinary OPL chat is associated with the session.
- Use the OPL Event response counts only as planning information, not an automatic court assignment.
On iPhone, iPad, and Android
- Open the ordinary OPL chat after a match finishes.
- Open the racket action and select New Game.
- Enter the players and scores.
- Select Save Match.
On macOS and Windows
- Open the OPL conversation from My OPL’s.
- Open the racket menu and select New Game.
- Enter the completed match and save it.
On the web
- Open the ordinary OPL conversation.
- Use New Game when the match action is available.
- Enter and submit the completed result.
Expected result
The venue's manual process decides who plays next. MYOPL records completed matches in the relevant OPL conversation and can use confirmed results for the supported score and rating workflows.
Current limitations
- This article does not activate an automated rotation feature.
- Attendance responses do not reserve courts or establish a playing order.
- The released New Game validator remains pickleball-specific.
