Understand Open Play Leagues

Updated August 23, 2026

Before you begin

MYOPL uses OPL for Open Play League. In some lists, the same ordinary OPLs appear under Open Play Sessions.

Understand the OPL structure

  1. A Court or Club is the parent venue or organization.
  2. An ordinary OPL is a persistent open-play container associated with that Court or Club.
  3. The OPL can have a chat, members, information, scheduled Events, and recorded matches.
  4. Each Event supplies the dated session schedule, location, and time slots.
  5. Local organizers decide the on-site queue, rotation, check-in, and play instructions.

An OPL therefore does not have to represent only one date. One ordinary OPL can organize recurring open-play Events over time.

iPhone, iPad, and Android

  1. Tap OPL’s in the bottom navigation.
  2. Open My OPL’s to see ordinary OPL chats you joined.
  3. Open an OPL conversation and tap its header to view OPL Info, EVENTS, and the linked venue information.

macOS and Windows

  1. Select OPL’s from the side navigation.
  2. Open My OPL’s and select an OPL conversation.
  3. Select the OPL header to display its information and Events beside the chat.

Web

  1. Open OPL’s from the Messenger sidebar.
  2. Open My OPL’s and select an ordinary OPL.
  3. Open its information panel to review the linked Court or Club and available Events.

Expected result

An ordinary OPL opens as a conversation that continues between its individual Events. Use that OPL when reading organizer instructions, responding to an Event, or recording a completed match.

Do not confuse regional ratings with an OPL chat

Your OPL Ratings by region contains regional rating records. A regional record summarizes rating activity for a geographic area; it is not an ordinary OPL conversation and does not open a chat.

Current limitations

  • The app uses both Open Play League and Open Play Session wording for ordinary OPLs.
  • MYOPL does not run an automated physical paddle queue or decide who plays next.
  • Sport-specific Browse and score validation are not yet available for every sport. Follow the controls shown in the released app rather than assuming another sport's scoring rules are active.
